Dean is an entrepreneur, accomplished sales professional and business advisor who has spent his entire career building successful businesses for himself and his clients by creating high performance business development and marketing organizations.  Dean’s professional versatility gives him a unique insight into his clients’ businesses to see untapped opportunities upon which to capitalize, allowing him to use his knowledge of how to structure and position their businesses toward the best possible advantage.

Prior to venturing into the business world, Dean served 8 years as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army.  This service included a combat tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he commanded a 120+ soldier Headquarters Company.  During his service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with ‘Valor’ device for his actions under fire, and his unit was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Army’s second highest unit honor, for exemplary service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

As sales leader at Orion, Dean helped turn the company’s southeast region into one of the most profitable territories within the company by establishing and building key relationships with Fortune 1000 companies, including: ExxonMobil, BP, Caterpillar, Conoco Phillips, Corning, Danaher, GSK, KMPG, Morgan Stanley, and Textron.  Dean then founded and helped to build two tech start-ups.  While serving as the Chairman and CEO of PrepChamps, Inc., Dean successfully raised $2.2M in private equity capital and built key partnerships with Reebok, Adidas, Five-Star, D-1 Sports, and Sports International.  PrepChamps was recognized as the 2007 North Carolina “FastTrac Tech Company of the Year”, and ultimately the company became the 3rd largest site in the high school sports recruiting space.  Additionally Dean managed worldwide sales at Health Decisions, where he developed new business strategies and built long-term customer relationships that led to the organization setting a single-year booked revenue record of $24M, a 115% increase versus 2009.

Dean is also extremely active within the Raleigh business community.  He has served as a business consultant and adviser for numerous high-growth companies and he is one of the founders of NC Spark, a RTP based networking and CEO peer group with 40+ high tech-high growth company members.  He has also participated in numerous initiatives supporting the UNC Kenan-Flager Entrepreneurial Studies program and he is a member of the North Carolina Council for Entrepreneurial Development and North Carolina Technology Association.

Dean received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio Northern University.  He attended ONU on a full-ride R.O.T.C. scholarship and he was a Distinguished Military Graduate.
